Note: all games for Spring 2016 must be completed and recorded NLT May 31, 2016. I usually advocate that any games be completed before your age group starts having tryouts. ( May 23rd for Academy and XL. May 31st for U11+) In addition, if you or your opponent is playing in the Wasatch Memorial Classic Tournament, I would not plan on a reschedule after May 25th.

Alignment Rules for teams that were part of a Member Organization
U9 XL moving to U11 XL
- If the Team played 6v6 the previous season, it retains five (5) players from the previous roster of that Team or the previous team roster of any other Team within the same Organizational Member. This recognizes “Club Continuity” in this situation…
- If a team splits due to birth year registration AND the MO does NOT already hold a position within the bracket then a MO can create a 2nd guaranteed spot if there are five (5) returning players from the previous roster.
- Example: U9 North A team that played 6v6 Spring 2016 with a roster size of 10 players that finished in first place has a guaranteed spot in U11 Premier Orange due to natural migration of to the birth year changes, if they retain five players according to club continuity described above. IF the member organization doesn't have a team in U10NA AND retains five (5) players from the previous roster (frozen on May 31, 2016), then the member organization can have a second guaranteed spot in U10NA.
U10XL moving to U12XL
- If the Team played 8v8 the previous season as a true U10 team, it retains seven (7) players from the previous roster of that Team or the previous team roster of any other Team within the same Organizational Member. This recognizes “Club Continuity” in this situation…
- If a team splits due to birth year registration AND the MO does NOT already hold a position within the bracket then a MO can create a 2nd guaranteed spot if there are 7 returning players from the previous roster.
- Example: U10 North A team that played 8v8 Spring 2016 with a roster size of 14 players that finished in first place has a guaranteed spot in U12 Premier Black due to natural migration of the birth year changes, if they retain seven (7) players according to club continuity described above. IF the member organization doesn't have a team in U11 Premier AND retains seven (7) players from the previous roster (frozen on May 31, 2016), then the member organization can have a second guaranteed spot in U11 Premier.
U11 moving to U13
- If the Team played 8v8 the previous season in the U-11 age group, it retains seven (7) players from the previous roster of that Team;
- If a team splits due to birth year registration AND the MO does NOT already hold a position within the bracket then a MO can create a 2nd guaranteed spot if there are five (5) returning players from the previous roster plus two (2) additional players from within the club or outside the club that have played in the same division or a higher division.
- Example: U11D1 team that played 8v8 Spring 2016 with a roster size of 14 players that finished in first place has a guaranteed spot in U13d1 due to natural migration of the birth year changes, if they retain seven (7) players from the previous team roster as of roster freeze (May 31, 2016.) IF the member organization doesn't have a team in U12D1 AND retains 5+ 2 as described above, then the member organization can have a second guaranteed spot in U12D1.
U12 moving to U14; U13 to U15; U14 to U16; U15 to U17; U16 to U18 or U17 to U19/20
The Member Organization holds the natural transitional spot for each team with no player retention requirement.
Example: The MO Team is currently U17 P1 with 98 and 99 birth year players. The Team's new spot is U19 P1 (based on US Soccer Mandates) and it retains the P1 position.

U12 - U19/20 Team Splits
MO Team Splits for birth year alignment where the MO holds the spot at the older age group per policy, a team will be granted the same division at a year younger if:
1 - The MO does not already hold a position or positions within the bracket AND....
2 - If the split is a true 50/50 split. Example: A roster with 8 players of the older birth year and 8 players from the younger birth year. Acceptable splits of the current roster will be 6/6, 7/7… or higher.
3-If your team plays in the National League or DPL and the team splits, both teams will be guaranteed a spot division’s equivalent to their natural progression. (This allows teams that have DPL/NL spots to retain their DPL/NL spot regardless of what US Soccer decides to implement. Currently they are undecided and we would like to move forward with our game plan rather than waiting on them to make a solid decision. Allowing both teams a spot ensures that we do not penalize our teams regardless of what US Soccer decides.)
4- If the MO does not already hold a position or positions within the younger age bracket, they can create a new team ( at the younger age group) that has 6 returning players from the previous roster plus 3 additional players from within the club or outside the club that have played in the same division or a higher division.

Team Splits that do not meet the above criteria
In all other instances, the team and MO must petition the Alignment Committee for placement. Instructions on how the petition process will work, please contact your competition committee representative.
Alignment rules for independent teams that register directly with the UYSA state office
In Region 2 we don't have any truly independent teams. Everyone is a part of one member organization or another. Because there are teams outside of R2 that access this website, I am including the information for truly independent teams here.
- Independent Teams
- For each spot occupied by an independent team, such team will retain the spot if it retains at least nine (9) players from its previous season roster.
- The CS shall relegate down one division any independent team that fails to retain the appropriate number of players, but retains at least seven (7) players from its previous season roster.
- The CS shall relegate down two divisions any independent team that retains five (5) or six (6) players from its previous season roster.
- An independent team shall be considered a new team if it fails to retain at least five (5) players from its previous season roster and shall be placed as a new team.
- The foregoing numbers are reduced by two (2) for teams transitioning from U12 to U13.
